IUHMC stands for the Inter-University Health Ministers Consortium. It is a coalition of health ministers from all Ugandan universities and higher education institutions, united to drive student-led health initiatives across the country.

IUHMC is open to:

• University Students: Health ministers and student leaders from all Ugandan universities.
• Higher Education Institutions: Students from nursing schools, paramedical schools, and health training institutions.
• Partners: NGOs, government agencies, and organizations that share our mission.

Sickle cell disease is a genetic blood disorder that affects the shape of red blood cells, causing them to become sickle-shaped and block blood flow.

In Uganda:

• 20,000+ babies are born with sickle cell disease annually.
• 13.1% of Ugandans are carriers of the sickle cell trait.
• 0.7% to 1% of the population lives with the disease.

That's why IUHMC is committed to awareness, testing, and education.

No, membership is completely free! IUHMC is a student-led, non-profit consortium. We believe in accessible health leadership for all Ugandan students.

However, we do welcome donations and sponsorships to support our campaigns and activities.
